Measures to fight corruption in Timisoara University Center

The Euroregional Center for Democracy and the Academy of Advocacy opened the anti-corruption hotline 0800.844.844. The line is available to students, professors and the administrative staff from the four state-funded public universities from Timisoara.

By a free of charge phone call interested persons can inform of acts of corruption that they know about directly or indirectly. There are two types of intimations depending on the choice made by the author: anonymous or assumed.

The aim of monitoring acts that lack integrity and acts of corruption in the academic institutions is to identify risk areas on the map of corruption in the higher education from Timisoara, and the most corrupted faculties from the four state-funded universities: University of West, Politehnica University, University of Agricultural Sciences of Banat and University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Victor Babeş".

The anti-corruption green line will be completed by two other mechanisms to inform of practices that lack integrity: a phone line with normal charge 0256/ 43.66.34 and an online mechanism available on the webpage www.integritate.ro.

This innitiative is part of the project "Transparency and Integrity in Higher Education " A Program to Develop a Coalition of Non-governmental Organisations to Prevent Corruption”, implemented with the financial support of the European Union through Phare 2003 Program Strengthening Civil Society in Romania.
