The Inclusive Campus Competition
2015-11-26

The Euroregional Center for Democracy (CED) from Timisoara, Romania, and the School of Management in Fribourg, Switzerland, are launching a competition to select student organizations or initiative groups to conduct communication/advocacy campaigns in the university campuses of Timisoara.

The competition takes place within the frame of All-Inclusive Universities: A Project for Enhancing the Accessibility Services of Universities for Students with Disabilities, and aims to support student organizations and initiative groups to develop and conduct advocacy/communication campaigns. The main purpose of the campaigns is to signal the top priorities in the field of inclusion of current and prospective students with disabilities in the academic community of Timisoara.

An evaluation committee comprised of at least five members – one representative of the Swiss partner, one project manager, three representatives of NGOs that have members with disabilities – will choose the four best campaign ideas based on the concept notes sent by participating teams.

The selection criteria will be the following: impact, originality, sustainability, anticipated number of participants in the campaign. The chosen organizations / groups will develop their concept notes into advocacy campaigns together with CED’s Advocacy Coordinator.

Each finalist team will have a maximum budget of 1500 Lei to implement its advocacy campaign. The budget will cover the costs of the materials that are necessary for the implementation of the campaign, as described by each team.

The elaboration and implementation of the campaigns will take place between 1 December 2015 and 30 March 2016.

Each team will comprise of: one campaign manager, one chronicler who regularly reports on the progress made, two – eight students who are in charge of different campaign modules. The chronicler of each team will provide up-to-date information about the campaign and materials (photos, videos, information materials) to be uploaded to the project website.

The winners will be chosen based on:
- the votes of the competing teams (teams are not allowed to vote for their own campaigns) – 30%;
- the votes of the NGOs whose actions / projects target people with special needs – 20%;
- the votes of the Swiss-Romanian selection committee – 50%; the committee comprises of: one representative of the Swiss partner, two representatives of the Romanian project beneficiary, one representative of each team (4 persons altogether).

The information uploaded by each team to the All-Inclusive Universities website will play a major role in evaluating and comparing the effectiveness of the competing advocacy campaigns.
