Regional cross-border cooperation

Building Open Local Government: From Principles to Practice of Good Governance, 2005

Resource Center of Moldovan Non-governmental Organisations for Human Rights (CREDO) Chisinau and Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Ukraine.

Objectives
Build a framework for access to information, consultation and public participation in policy-making which will contribute to strengthening local government – citizen relations and fighting corruption
Promote, develop, facilitate and support partnership for regional non-governmental organizations and institutions to build up collaborative projects and strategies in the region.

Target group
Representatives of local public administration and NGOs from Romania (Timis county – Timisoara, Lugoj, Faget), Moldova and Ukraine.

Outcome
A dialogue was established between representatives of the local administration and the civil society from Romania, Moldova and Ukraine
Enhanced advocacy abilities of NGOs’ representatives, civic groups and citizens who propose initiatives for cross-border programmes to the local authorities
The Local Council from Chisinau adopted a decision to ensure transparency and raise citizens’ involvement in the decision-making process
